The Surfer and the Merman CH13
On the same beach from yesterday, Skye and Cyan decided to walk along the shore the next morning.
"I'm sorry that it took me so long," Cyan explained, "Staying in shallow water for a long time is difficult. The water is always moving, its hard to stay in one place."
Skye nodded his head. He still had trouble believing that they were so unlucky. The reason they could not be reunited sooner was because they happened to not be at the beach at the same time, despite how often Skye visited. They simply had just kept missing each other. The surfer wished he had camped out on the beach, but he knew that would bring too much attention to himself.

13 Months Later
It was the end of summer, so Cayucos was packed with tourists who wanted to see the beach one last time before returning to school and jobs. Children were dashing around, giggling happily, and their families closely followed behind. On this particular street, by the beach, were various places to pick up snacks such as ice cream, and other interesting and unique shops that sold crafts and antiques.
Skye was walking down this street, and certainly didn't fit in with the crowd. Their cheery, smiling faces were in contrast to his empty expression. He didn't look sad, just blank. His bare feet were still covered in sand from prev

Cyan was sitting on Skye's bed, and Skye was in front of him on his knees, applying bandages to the merman's abused body.
"He's so quiet...." Cyan thought as he fidgeted nervously. He hated the awkward silence.
Skye was nearly done when Cyan noticed that Skye's arm was bleeding as well.
"Oh, this?" Skye explained as if it were nothing, "I just cut it on some glass."
"Let me wash it for you." Cyan offered, but Skye stood up.
"I'll do it myself," He turned towards the bathroom, but Cyan grabbed Skye's arm.
"Let me do it," Cyan begged. Skye gave in and removed his ruined pajama shirt.
"He's feeling guilty," Cyan thought as he poured water

Skye finally reached the street that his high school was located. Having run the whole way there, Skye tried to catch his breath. As he stood there with his hands on his knees, he stared at the school building. It was completely silent since it was the weekend. Since Skye lives in a small town located right near the beach, the high school was small as well. He finally caught his breath and cursed at himself for resting. He then approached the school and walked right in, not having to climb a fence or anything like that.
Skye didn't have to worry much about security. The school was never tagged by graffiti, for there were usually never any ga

Skye gradually woke up. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the light. After glancing at his digital alarm clock, he realized he had slept in to almost noon. Skye wasn't surprised, Cyan and him had stayed out pretty late last night. Luckily for him, it was the weekend and he didn't have to worry about summer school.
The spot beside him was empty as usual. Cyan always had to have his early morning laps.
"Where does all that energy come from?" Skye thought as he massaged his aching shoulder. Besides being very fit, Skye still felt exhausted from last night.
Skye stumbled to the kitchen and prepared a glass of orange juice for himself. He op

Summer school had already begun for the day, but the teacher was running late, leaving all the students sitting in their desks, bored and nothing better to do. Skye, of course, never looked forward to summer school, but now that he had company waiting for him at home, he hated it even more. People were chatting with their neighbors, but Skye simply waited gloomily in his desk. He happened to glance over at the boy sitting next to him.
It was Asher, a quiet boy. He was completely lost in a book, he only paused once to adjust his thick-lensed glasses. It was the book that caught Skye's attention.
"Mystical Creatures," was written across the

Skye took out his cell phone from his pocket to check the time.
"5:30..." He read to himself.
"It should be open," the young blonde said as he turned to the boy next to him.
"Good..." Cyan said as he rubbed his stomach. Skye stared at the smaller boy; he was developing a habit of doing this. He couldn't help himself, he was just so fascinated with the boy from the sea.
The sun was getting lower in the sky, causing the leaves from the tree in Skye's front yard to scatter shadows all over Cyan. He couldn't stop himself from thinking about how lovely Cyan looked at this moment. Skye's mind then focused on Cyan's new shirt.

Skye was in his almost completely dark bedroom, the only light coming from the open bathroom door. He could hear gentle splashes coming from the tub as he searched through his drawers for his pajamas. Once he found them, he placed them on his bed and decided to check on the merman just in case he had decided to randomly vanish into thin air. As he entered, Cyan smiled happily at him. He looked comfortable, as if he were laying in a bed.
"Guess I won't be taking a bath before bed tonight..." Skye mumbled to himself, but Cyan still heard him.
"You can still take a bath. I feel bad for barging into y

It was beautiful, sunny day in Cayucos, California. However, even the perfect weather couldn't improve the mood of one of the local residents as he gloomily walked across the sand. Surfboard in his hand, he stared out into the horizon, his natural blonde hair blowing in the wind. He then realized that he was the only person on the beach, which just made him feel worse. He felt so alone lately, ever since summer began. His parents had left him for a whole month to go visit relatives who lived a few states away. The poor surfer couldn't go with his parents because he had to take summer school clas
